Dr. Carina Fish is a Legislative Assistant in the Office of Sen. Markey (D-MA) where she foregrounds environmental justice in her portfolio, covering environment, climate, and energy. Dr. Fish was an inaugural Carbon Removal Justice Fellow, a Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellow, a NOAA Dr. Nancy Foster Scholar, and a Ford Foundation Fellow. Her research expertise spans chemical oceanography, marine biogeochemistry, paleoceanography, geopolitics, and deep sea studies. She is currently working on a food sovereignty and food justice project, as well as a polluters pay project focused on coastal resiliency. She delights in forging new relations with folks who also center justice in their work, and finding points of common ground with all.
Dr. Fish earned her doctorate in Earth and Planetary Sciences from University of California, Davis while based out of Bodega Marine Laboratory, and received her A.B. for a joint concentration in Earth and Planetary Sciences as well as Environmental Sciences and Engineering from Harvard College. In her personal time, Carina seeks to get her hands-on ocean engineering for high school students project off the ground, enjoys hosting dinner parties, and loves hiking/biking/paddle boarding with her husky.
